Driving Lessons In Stratford

If you are looking to start driving lessons in Stratford or a nearby area, it’s important to think about your options first. one of the most important things to consider is when you would like to pass your driving test by. Most people say ‘as soon as possible’, but these same people are often limited by other commitments.

Taking 1 or 2 hours of training each week may be best for you. Alternatively, a more intensive course (where you normally do over 8 hours each week) may suit you better. Whatever you feel is best, we can help. If you would like to ask any questions, please use the form below. After that, feel free to read the information on intensive driving lessons further down this page. Intensive Driver Training

When time is of the essence, you may want to pass your driving test quickly. There are plenty of driving schools in Stratford that say in as little as 5 days you could complete one of their courses, pass the driving test and go home with your licence! However, the truth is that learning this way doesn’t suit everyone.

As everybody starts from a different level of ability or experience, so it’s important to get a brief assessment with a Driving Instructor to gauge your abilities. If you’ve had a good amount of previous driving, 5 days may be enough to get you ready for the driving test, but starting from scratch takes longer. I would recommend spreading the lessons over at least 3-4 weeks to give you chance to take in all the information.

To get started, all you need is a provisional UK driving licence. If you’re looking at taking a shorter course, it’s also important to have passed the theory test. That way, you can book your driving test, and arrange the lessons so the last lesson is close to the day of your test.

Assuming you’re starting from little or no experience, below is a rough guide of the things you will cover, along with the way I would do them with the average learner driver. Saying that, there’s no such thing as ‘average’ and most of the time I adopt a different approach with each person.

1. Intro – Involves running through the car controls, where they are and how to set the car up. Next will be learning how to move, stop and steer the car under control.

2. Junctions – Starting with easy lefts and rights, leading on to give ways and crossroads. This will normally begin on quiet residential streets, leading on to much busier situations.

3. Roundabouts – To start with, only basic roundabouts will be covered. I tend to leave the more difficult ones until the level of skill is higher.

4. Reversing – Once you’ve got a good grasp of car control, we start looking at moving backwards. The turn in the road (3-point turn) is normally the first one, with the others (reverse round a corner, parallel park and bay park) coming later on in the lessons.

5. Dual Carriageways & Faster Roads – Taking your skills further on twisty country roads and dual carriageways

6. Complex Junctions – Looking at the trickiest parts of the area you live in. This could be narrow roads, multiple roundabouts or steep hills.

Broken down like that, it doesn’t look like much, but this would take most people at least 25-30 hours. Once you’ve got the abilities needed, your Female Driving Instructor in Woking will normally do a mock test or 2 so that you get used to the way Driving Examiners conduct the test. These practices will also give you and your Instructor an idea of any parts of your driving that needs more practice.
